I use a program called "Corel Painter IX" which got pretty nice painting tools. I use the "Acrylic" to paint the colours on, and the "Just Add Water" to mix the colours together to make it smooth. ^^

I also add some of the effects in Photoshop CS... ie. the spirit sphere, and used Dodge tool to make the metals more shiny... But only in small amount to add "depth" ^^

still using painter 7 lol. somehow i can't work with later painter versions since the tools work different from p8 on, also the interface is different. i am way too intolerant for new stuff XD
